Song Salue – Mykonos & He doesn’t know why by FLEET FOXES

Am in love with these two songs – these guys are so talented.

Don’t think they are doing any tours in the near future in my area …. which such a pity as I would love to see them live.

All roads lead to Buenes Aires…

Over the course of the past month or so the universe has whispered… Buenes Aires to me over and over again.

This city has appeared in the most random of instances – example:

  • Newpaper article on 100th aniversary of independence from the Spanish
  • Lunch with my former General Manager – just returned from trip to South America (never been before) LOVED B.A.
  • Magazine article – found as I was clearing away all the newspapers piling up in my office (this was the only magazine in the lot).
  • Met new person from Chile – his flight was rerouted to B.A. due to airport’s damage post-earthquake (had never been there before) LOVED it.
  • Room mate watching new Madonna concert – concert was in B.A.
  • Looked at the map – there is a district called Palermo Soho (no. 5) – this has personal significance to me in more ways than one. Eery!

These are just a couple of examples off the top of my head. So I am now listening to the universe. 🙂 Maybe it is time to start planning a trip down there.

My daily dose of romance starts in the my closet

When I was younger I always aspired to own a house with a walk in closet – and now I do! (Well minus the own a house part). One the reasons I fell in love with my current apartment was the massive closet that came with my bedroom. It really was love at first sight. I have shelves for my shoes/books, ample railing space to hang my dresses, coats and work suits and space for a mini catwalk in front my full length mirror.

Last night I decided to hang my two feather boas next to my swan picture and after trying various arrangements that just did not look right… I stepped back to re-think what I could do to make them look decent,  only to realize the mid-point arrangement I’d left the two boas had organically (and not in any way on purpose) formed a heart shape around the swan.

I thought it was so beautiful and I’ve left them that way. Upon seeing my new piece de resistance my room mate J nodded his approval and proclaimed that THIS would be the year I find true love. Oddly, I think having a massive, fluttery, ultra-girly heart in my presence as I get dressed each morning can help me do that – cause it puts you in the right frame of mind. Happy, hopeful, open, loving.

Swan Heart 🙂

Song Salute – Zebra by Beach House

This is my current favourite song – Zebra by Beach House.

Beach House - The Band (Victoria & Alex)

On Youtube – and check out this kids choir version too –

You know you’re gold, you don’t gotta worry none
Oasis child, born and so wild
Don’t I know you better than the rest
All deception, all deception from you

Your love is stag in the white sand
Wilderness for miles, eyes so mild and wise
Don’t I know you better than the rest
All deception, all deception from you

Any way you run, you run before us
Black and white horse arching among us

Your love is stag in the white sand
Oasis child born into a man
Don’t I know you better than the rest
All deception, all deception from you

Wilderness for miles, eyes so mild and wise
Oasis child, born and so wild
Don’t I know you better than the rest
All deception, all deception from you

Any way you run, you run before us
Black and white horse arching among us

I saw the band live last Sunday at the Rickshaw Theatre on East Hastings and Main – and it was an amazing show! Can’t wait to see them again! 🙂

Cherry Blossoms in Vancouver

Since moving to Vancouver I have discovered the incredible beauty of Cherry Blossums – that give our city a pretty, romantic feel all spring long. This afternoon I passed by Bute Street – that is lined with scores of such trees for at blocks on end and had to stop and take some pix. Just the sight of those trees makes me smile and feel so happy 🙂

Some info I found on Wikipedia –

  • The transience of the blossoms, the extreme beauty and quick death, has often been associated with mortality.
  • The Cherry blossom is an omen of good fortune and is also an emblem of love, affection and represents spring. Cherry blossoms are an enduring metaphor for the fleeting nature of life, and as such are frequently depicted in art.
  • During WW II, the cherry blossom was used to motivate the Japanese people, to stoke nationalism and militarism among the populace. Japanese pilots would paint them on the sides of their planes before embarking on a suicide mission, or even take branches of the trees with them on their missions.

Tulips for Wedding Centrepiece

Attended my beautiful friend’s wedding this afternoon at Brock House on Jerico Beach.

It couldn’t have been a more spectacular day for a wedding – sun was shining & the weather temp was relatively warmer than it’s been over the past three days.

The ceremony was held outside – under the massive trees, on crisp green grass (one of my fave smells in the whole wide world) overlooking the beach and all of English Bay….. breath taking. A perfect setting for the most gorgeous bride in the world.

These 3 vases were given to my roomie and I as we left – they were used as the centrepieces. I love tulips, and I love the simplicity of these arrangements. Soft colours and neautral stones on the bottom.

Wishing you lots of sunshine for the rest of your life D!! xx
